The complainants in this case were a couple who, the NYC Commission on Human Rights found, had been discriminated against on the basis of disability. The landlord had refused to give reasonable accommodations for an emotional support dog, for which they were fined $55,000 and were made to pay compensation of $40,000 and $30,000. The landlord argued the decision was not based on substantial evidence of discrimination, but the Appellate Division affirmed the lower court decision, except to reduce the fine to $30,000 and the compensation to $20,000 and $15,000. https://www.nycourts.gov/reporter/3dseries/2022/2022_02122.htm
